Heart Qi Deficiency

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM for short) the Heart Organ Network includes not only the heart muscle but also aspects of overall blood circulation and mental activity. Qi is what enables our bodies to move and our organs to do their functions. Heart Qi deficiency means that this network&s function is impaired.

Lifestyle Recommendations

Strengthening the cardiovascular system and the autonomic nervous systems are important aspects to addressing the pattern.

Beneficial activities:

  • Restorative exercises such as Taiji (Tai Chi) and Yoga will help build and circulate Qi.
  • Mild cardiovascular exercise (adjusted to your capabilities) should also be incorporated into a regular routine. Examples include: swimming, walking and hiking.
  • Practices to reduce over stimulation, such as meditation, Qigong, deep breathing programs, etc. should be done on a continuous basis.
