Lifestyle Recommendations

Adding more warmth to the channels and avoiding exposure to cold is the overall strategy required to resolve this pattern.

Beneficial Activities

  • Physical activities should be geared towards warming and activating the channels to drive out Cold.
  • Care must be taken to avoid over exertion. This is because often a weakness of the body's defensive Qi is what has made it possible for Cold to enter the body. Overexertion, including excessive sweating will further consume Qi resulting in a more intractable situation.
  • Examples of activities include: Pilates, Hatha styles of Yoga and warming therapies such as saunas, heated massage, far infra-red heat lamps
  • Avoiding cold environments or activities where you can be exposed to cold is very important. These include air conditioning, cold drafts, swimming in cold water etc.
  • While exercising drink only room-temperature (or warmer) fluids and after exercising, take time to cool down completely.
  • It's also important to dress warmly and avoid exposure to the cold winds.
