Traditional Chinese Medicine is an intricate &
sophisticated practice with origins from a different culture & different time.
I feel this alternative perspective has a great deal to contribute in today's world.
In my practice, I strive to stay true to the Asian traditions as I adapt & apply them here in the West.

James Saper James Saper, R.TCM.P.

I received my training at Oshio College in Victoria, British Columbia. I graduated with distinction in 2002 & was among the first group of practitioners to qualify for the Practitioner designation by that province's professional regulatory body, the College of TCM Practitioners & Acupuncturists.

My interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine grew out of my previous university degree & work in the environmental field. Working in the areas of environment & health as well being interested in the concept of sustainable ecosystem design, I began to look at topics like Permaculture & the healing properties of herbs. From there, the practice of Chinese medicine was a natural extension.

I started my studies in Chinese Medicine with Dr. Kai Chen M.M. Ph.D. in Hamilton, Ontario. A year of studies with Dr. Chen affirmed my choice to pursue Chinese Medicine & I enrolled in full time studies in Victoria. One year later, Dr. Chen moved to Victoria & I again was able to continue learning from him as one of his students.

In addition to Dr. Kai Chen, the Oshio teaching faculty had many high calibre teachers. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Ganglin Yin, Zhiguang Hu, Dr. Michael Chung from Vancouver, Dr. Xiaochuan Pan, Li Yan, Gang Pan, Kit Wong & Andy Bernhart.

While living and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, I had the good fortune to meet & train Chinese Martial Arts with Shane Watson & Andrea Falk. I began a serious study of Yang & Chen styles of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) in Victoria under Andrea's vigilant eye. I also was able to learn the Qi Gong form, Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa (18 Postures for Daily Practice), in Victoria from Sue Jiang.

Since moving to Guelph, Ontario, I have been able to deepen my Chen Taijiquan studies with Master Jack Yan, one of the eighteen inheritor disciples of Grand Master Chen Zhenglei. And expand my training with Andrea Falk to include Bagua & Xingyi.

My acupuncture practice has been deeply influenced by Dr. Wang Juyi who I had the privilege to study with (briefly) on two trips to Beijing. I continue to learn his invaluable Applied Channel Theories with his apprentice, Jonathan Chang.

Since 2002 I have been operating a solo Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in Guelph, Ontario.
